This 11-day voyage ventures across the Weddell Sea, sail to a known rookery situated south of Snow Hill Island, which lies off the eastern coast of the Peninsula. The pack ice may be too dense to allow the ship to approach near to the rookery itself, but positioned between Snow Hill Island and James Ross Island close to the ice-edge it should be possible to observe the Emperor penguins on their way to the open water to feed.
