These exciting adventure options are available on some departures of certain voyages through the Antarctic. For those not taking part in the adventure activities described below a complimentary programme of cruising with Zodiac boats and shore landings will be offered.

Camping
Experience a night camping out in this beautiful wilderness. Marvel at the night sky and breathe in the cool, crisp air of Antarctica. Be part of a small group of no more than ten campers who will have the rare opportunity to sleep out in this pristine and stunning landscape. You will sleep in high quality mountain tents with sleeping bags provided. You’ll feel a sense of freedom out here like no other, with the extra comfort of knowing that two experienced members of staff will supervise your camp. The campsite is close to Port Lockroy on the shores of Neumayer Channel, in an area away from any high concentrations of vegetation or wildlife to avoid any disturbance to this unique environment. Camping is complimentary but strictly on a pre-registered basis.

Sea Kayaking
Paddling in this pristine wilderness will overwhelm even the most seasoned adventurer. Take advantage of this rare opportunity, for few people in the world have experienced this magical place by kayak. Imagine silently gliding through mazes of ice floes in a kayak, gazing upon thousands of penguins with a glorious backdrop of deeply crevassed glaciers and ice capped peaks jutting right out of the sea. Stable Prijon kayaks are used and each trip is led by qualified kayak instructors and accompanied by a Zodiac safety boat. Experience the beauty of Antarctica as you paddle silently through this vast wilderness and reach places and have rare wildlife encounters that are only possible by kayak. Previous kayaking experience is an advantage for this adventure option.

Cross-Country Skiing

Cross-country skiing in this region means you can travel quickly and quietly under your own power. Previous cross-country skiing experience is not necessary, however participants should be in good physical condition. Cross-Country Skiing is complimentary but strictly on a pre-registered basis.

Ice Climbing and Mountaineering
If gazing up at spectacular Antarctic icebergs isn’t awe-inspiring enough, you can always put your mountaineering skills to work and try climbing one of the ice cliffs or ascend one of the many beautiful peaks on the Antarctic Peninsula. Our expert guides provide detailed briefings and all the equipment you need, and offer helpful direction as you climb.
