Introduction

BOOK NOW!
The most illusive and impressive of all penguin species, emperors are the only penguins to make their colonies on the sea ice. They often travel long distances to find open water in which to feed.

Venturing across the Weddell Sea, sail to a known rookery situated south of Snow Hill Island, which lies off the eastern coast of the Peninsula. The pack ice may be too dense to allow the ship to approach near to the rookery itself, but positioned between Snow Hill Island and James Ross Island close to the ice-edge it should be possible to observe the emperor penguins on their way to the open water.

This voyage also provides the chance of landing on Snow Hill Island to visit the historic hut of Otto Nordenskjold’s Swedish Antarctic Expedition. Interesting fossils can be viewed on nearby Seymour Island.
