Snow Shoe Expeditions
In May 2007 the sailing voyage around North Spitsbergen will be extra special with the exciting addition of the great snow shoe expedition! This unique voyage will have the additional benefit of giving you the opportunity to experience walking on snow, just like the great explorers did!
Imagine walking your way across vast expanses of powdery snow, hear the satisfying crunch underfoot as you stride out onto pure white snow and journey inland like the great polar adventurers Scott and Shackleton, in true old-fashioned explorer style.
Gear up, strap on your snow shoes and set off on a breathtaking guided walk across the pristine snow. You’ll get a true sense of adventure as you trudge through the white wilderness. Just like Roald Amundsen you too will be exploring the pristine and beautiful Arctic wilderness.
Look out for amazing Arctic wildlife, as you plough through this surreal landscape. Marvel at natural snow sculptures and take advantage of the many excellent photographic opportunities, as you walk through stunning snow scenes.
Breathe in cool, fresh air and reflect on the endurance of the great explorers. Tramp across untouched snow fields and leave nothing but your footprints. This is a truly magical experience not to be missed, so book now as this activity is available on only one voyage each season - spaces are limited and are going fast! Feel free to contact us on 0870 060 3288.
Snow shoe walks last for 3-5 hours and are suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit. It is very easy compared to cross country skiing and offers you a unique opportunity to explore snow the old-fashioned way.
Please note that you will need to bring your own tried and tested snow shoes with you to take part in the snow shoe walks, as we do not provide snow shoes. Our team will be able to offer advice on equipment, to ensure you’re fully prepared.
