PROVISIONAL ITINERARY FOR 2009*
KAPITAN KHLEBNIKOV • AROUND 19 DAYS
Since the first attempt to find the Northwest Passage in 1576, ship after ship has searched for the fabled northern route across the top of the world to the Orient. Three hundred years later, Roald Amundsen succeeded. This remarkable itinerary retraces his footsteps.
Aboard the Kapitan Khlebnikov navigate icechoked channels, narrow straits and littleexplored waterways. Departing from Providenia, Russia, the ship crosses the Bering Strait before facing the frozen waters of the North West Passage.
Continue along the arctic coast of the North American continent and sail among its offshore islands. Visit truly inaccessible places and interact with indigenous communities - always on the lookout for the region’s magnificent wildlife, which includes polar bears, whales, seals, musk oxen and many arctic seabirds.
*Note routes vary from year-to-year; due to popular demand we understand that this voyage is currently scheduled for the 2009 Arctic summer season – details to be confirmed.
