During this 14-day active adventure departing from and returning to Resolute, the Akademik Ioffe intends to explore some truly spectacular locations in the Canadian Arctic: Lancaster Sound, Grise Fjord, Beechey Island, Cape Hay Migratory Bird Sanctuary, and Pond Inlet. In Greenland there are plans afoot to visit Qaanaaq and Cape York. During the voyage, when the conditions are favourable, a select group of passengers will be able to take to the water on kayak excursions (previous experience necessary, places are strictly on a pre-registered basis for this enhanced experience of the Arctic).
Route of Voyage
Please note the voyage route and daily itinerary is subject to weather conditions therefore flexibility is the key to enjoying your expedition voyage to the full. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
This voyage commences in Ottawa with a pre-voyage overnight, before the charter flight the next day to Resolute, where you will step aboard the ice-strengthened vessel the Akademik Ioffe. The itinerary onboard the vessel takes in some truly astounding visual treats in the Canadian Arctic and the northernmost parts of Greenland. Finally the Akademik Ioffe returns to Resolute, and following disembarkation you will fly south to Ottawa for a final overnight before bidding farewell to your fellow passengers (and the flight home).
