Akureyri Youth Hostel

Groups flying north base themselves here for urban studies and as a base for studying the valleys north of Akureyri. The hostel has 60 beds and is very centrally located. Breakfast is included at a nearby hotel but half board is available on request. Used by Budget Scheme groups.
Hotel Dyrholaey

A very well-appointed hotel in an elevated position overlooking Myrdalur and the back of the Dyrholaey cliffs and beach. The hotel is equipped with 52 twin en suite rooms and has a large dining room, which doubles as a teaching area. Full board is included here. The hotel is ideally located for field studies in the easternmost parts of the field study area especially for the coast, glaciers and the Myrdalsjokull icecap. Day excursions to Skaftafell are possible from here. Used by both Budget and Standard Scheme groups*.
Fosshotel Reykholt

Recently renovated this hotel is themed around Icelandic literature, Norse mythology and classical music. The hotel features 24 spacious rooms with bathtub, 29 rooms with shower and 15 rooms without private facilities. There is also a restaurant, library, TV & Internet lounge, 24 hours front desk service and conference rooms. Used by both Budget and Standard Scheme groups*.
Hotel Gullfoss

Located on the banks of River Hvita, this hotel has 16 comfortable double rooms, all with private bathroom. The dining room, which doubles as a study area, offers stunning views of the surrounding area and serves traditional home made food. Used by both Budget and Standard Scheme groups*.
Hjardarbol

A former farm between Hveragerdi and Selfoss this guesthouse is very well located for a whole range of field studies in the south. It has 50 beds in several buildings. The pleasant dining room and lounge double as teaching areas in the evenings. Used by both Budget and Standard Scheme groups*.
Hotel Hlid

Located near to Hveragerdi and the coastal village of Thorlakshofn, Hotel Hlid offers 21 modern and comfortable twin rooms all with shower/wc, tv, radio and internet connection. There is also a TV-lounge. Used by both Budget and Standard Scheme groups*.
Hofdabrekka

A delightful hotel just east of Vik. It has 62 twin en suite rooms and a beautiful dining room, which doubles as a teaching area. There are also some smaller areas, which can be used for meetings. Full board is included here. Perfectly located for coastal, glacial and pro-glacial studies and for day excursions to Skaftafell. Used by Budget Scheme groups.
Narfastadir

Based in Reykjadalur south west of Lake Myvatn this is a former farm that has 90 beds in 43 very pleasant and mostly en suite rooms. The large dining room doubles as a teaching area in the evenings. Full board is included here. This is the springboard for studies in the Husavik and Lake Myvatn region. Used by Budget Scheme groups.
Hotel Olafsvik

Located in the fishing village of the same name on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, this hotel offers comfortable rooms some with basin others with private facilities. There is a restaurant where meals are served. Used by Budget Scheme Groups.
Hotel Ork

Located 45km east of Reykjavik in Hveragerdi, this hotel has 85 en suite rooms. The hotel has it’s own restaurant and the outdoor swimming pool features a water slide, hot tubs and a geothermal sauna. Used by Budget Scheme groups.
Hotel Skaftafell

The hotel is located very close to the margin of the large Svinafellsjokull glacier and is therefore ideal for field studies in the Skaftafell region. It has sleeping bag accommodation in 20 rooms and a further 89 beds in the main hotel. Used by both Budget and Standard Scheme groups*.
* Note at these locations the Standard Scheme groups are provided with bed linen while the Budget Scheme groups use their own sleeping bags although linen can be provided for an additional charge.
