What follows is a sample itinerary based on the Standard Scheme.
Day 1: |
Fly from UK to Keflavik. Meet your guide and transfer to the Blue Lagoon for an unusual geothermal swim. Continue to your accommodation in Reykjavik for supper. |
Day 2: |
Travel east through the mountains to the Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Station, and the rift valley National Park at Thingvellir. Explore the rift and continue to Geysir, where Strokkur spouts every 5 minutes or so. Continue to the Gullfoss waterfall and return via a former volcanic crater, Kerid. Return to Reykjavik for supper. |
Day 3: |
Take a tour of Reykjavik to include the Perlan city viewing platform and the harbour area. Follow a self-guided trail or take other optional visits for which we can provide details. Return to Keflavik Airport for your late afternoon flight to New York arriving there in the early evening. Transfer to your hotel. |
Day 4: |
Get breakfast at a local deli and spend the day sightseeing. Your visits could include Liberty & Ellis Islands, Times Square, Fifth Avenue, Central Park, Radio City Music Hall, Museum of Modern Art and Macys. Excellent perspectives of the city as a whole can be seen from the observation decks of both the Empire State Building and recently re-opened Rockefeller Center. Have dinner at one of the city's numerous restaurants (pre-booking may be required locally). |
Day 5: |
Time at leisure to explore the city before transferring to JFK Airport in the early evening to return to UK via Keflavik. |
Day 6: |
Arrive in UK early morning. |
