Skogar Folk Museum
This is an amazing collection of buildings and artefacts gathered by a retired headmaster, Thordur Tomasson. It includes furnished turf houses, fishing boats and a vast collection of items that tell the story of life on Iceland's southern shores. A recent addition is an extraordinary exhibition showing technological developments in Iceland from Viking days to the present. Entry to the latter is additional.

Hveragerdi Geothermal Centre
This collection of hot springs and solfataras lies in the middle of the village of Hveragerdi. It once served to supply the dairy and other important buildings in the town but fell into disuse and was even used as a rubbish dump (until one vent exploded and blew rubbish all over the place!). For an extra charge you can boil eggs in a hot spring or sample hot spring cooked food.
