Race to the Pole by James Cracknell & Ben Fogle

In 2009 and nearly a century on from Scott's ill-fated South Pole race against Amundsen, a handful of teams from around the world embarked on a race to the South Pole. One of those teams comprised double-Olympic Gold medallist James Cracknell and TV presenter Ben Fogle (who rowed the Atlantic together in 2005). Their adventure is regaled in their book, Race to the Pole, available from Stanfords (www.stanfords.co.uk).
