  The Arctic may be one of man's most challenging environments, but many forms of life are quite at home at the edge of the inhabitable world, and a voyage to this breathtaking region can be richly rewarding. Renowned for wildlife watching opportunities both on land and in the marine rich coastal waters, you can choose whether to explore this last frontier by joining our exclusive group departures or to remain flexible with dates and join a standard voyage. Our voyages are about as far away from a beach holiday as you can get; but there is nothing quite like it to get the heart pumping and the cameras clicking. And if you’re lucky, you might encounter the glorious sight of a wild polar bear.

  Bear Necessities in Finland

  The opportunity to witness wildlife in its own environment is a privilege and our short breaks, aimed at photographers and nature enthusiasts alike, hope to provide some very special memories.
  

   
  Leave behind the nature programmes and head to a lesser known area of Eastern Finland, close to the Russian border. Amidst the ancient taiga forests observe nature as it happens and spend one or more nights in a specially designed hide - undoubtedly one of the best wildlife watching encounters, as the night unfolds and nature's stage is set, keep your eyes peeled for brown bear, wild deer, wolverine and maybe lynx.

  The Nordic summer yields around twelve to sixteen hours of sunlight a day, in addition to two to four hours of twilight, providing unrivalled wildlife photographic opportunities. There is also plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings exploring by canoe, bicycle or on foot.
