Getting Around

Canada is the world’s second largest country but fortunately it’s close enough to the UK to make a repeat visit a viable option. So rather than trying to see everything in one holiday, we recommend focusing on one or two provinces at a time, and exploring them at a leisurely pace.
Longer distances can be covered by air or rail, with train services available right across the country. Exploring by car or motorhome offers flexibility whilst escorted touring ensures you always have an experienced guide on hand – but however you choose to travel, you can be sure of an experience to remember in Canada!
DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
Travelling longer distances by air is a good option to save time or to enable you to combine the East and West in one trip. Air Canada offer an extensive domestic network and by booking in conjunction with your international tickets you can secure the best available airfares. Air Canada work in partnership with Continental, United and Lufthansa to provide a wide selection of routes to and across North America.
SELF DRIVE
We can offer vehicle rental across Canada, enabling you to explore hidden corners at your own pace. Driving is on the right-hand side but with plenty of wide open roads this is the ideal option for independent travellers, allowing you to stop when and where you like to admire the views, spot the wildlife or catch up with the locals. We offer a number of self-drive packages to take in Canada’s most popular attractions; alternatively we would be happy to assist you in creating your own bespoke itinerary.

RAIL JOURNEYS
The most famous of Canada’s railways is undoubtedly the Rocky Mountaineer, travelling between Vancouver and the Rockies via 3 different scenic routes. The Red Leaf Service provides a comfortable space on the 2 day journey, but for a real treat it’s well worth an upgrade to Gold Leaf Service to take advantage of the train’s domed viewing carriage for unobscured mountain views.
More extensive rail coverage is provided by VIA Rail, with a nationwide network offering the chance to travel right across the country from Vancouver to Halifax – via Jasper, Toronto and Montreal - in 6 days. Shorter routes from Winnipeg to Churchill or Jasper to Prince Rupert offer the chance to kick back and relax, making the journey from A to B part of your holiday experience.
FERRY JOURNEYS
The off-shore islands of British Columbia are best explored by sea, and BC ferries provide the ideal way to do this. Enjoy a scenic crossing from Vancouver to Victoria or explore Canada’s beautiful Inside Passage from Bella Bella to Prince Rupert. Travelling by ferry offers spectacular scenery with the chance to enjoy spotting some of Canada’s marine wildlife as you go.
