Ontario

Canada’s second largest province is over one million square miles stretching from the Great Lakes on the US border to the frozen shores of Hudson Bay. Much of the north is relatively inaccessible and sparsely populated, in contrast to the south with its fertile lands and home to Toronto, Canada’s largest city, and the famous Niagara Falls. Bordered by New York, Michigan and Minnesota, Ontario has 14 border entry points.
Toronto is one of North America’s most dynamic cities, the financial and commercial centre of Canada, with a cosmopolitan mix of inhabitants, fine art museums, suave cafĂ© bars, luxury stores, and the world’s tallest free-standing structure, the CN Tower.
The capital of Canada, Ottawa, is located in Ontario, with its splendid gothic Parliament Buildings rising majestically over the Ottawa River and a feast of national history and stately architecture for visitors.
The Great Lakes region comprises sleepy little farming towns, island-studded bays and stunning wilderness areas. Lake country is the destination for city folk in the summer as they head out to their country cottages. Wasaga Beach, is the world’s longest freshwater beach with 8.7 miles of gorgeous white sand.
Kitchener-Waterloo’s Oktoberfest is a celebration of German culture, second only to Munich as the world’s largest beer festival, with everything from sausages and sauerkraut to lederhosen and lager.
