Quebec

French-speaking Québec is a vast province renowned for its thriving culture, cuisine and entertainment. Its attractive cities lie scattered along the shores of the St Lawrence River, the gateway to the Great Lakes and a key part of Québec’s early fur-trading success.
Québec City is the provincial capital and is renowned for its blend of European charm in a New World setting. The distinctive fairy-tale architecture of Château Frontenac and the turbulent origins of Battlefields Park give the city a strong sense of history, and, as the only fortified city in North America, Québec is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Further south lies Montréal, the world’s largest French-speaking city outside of Paris. Located on an island at the confluence of the St Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers, Montreal’s Old Port offers a wealth of water-based activities. Excellent shopping, dining and nightlife give the city a real contemporary buzz, and Montreal regularly hosts international festivals and sporting events.
