SEA KAYAKING IN THE ARCTIC
Passengers travelling on some of our Arctic itineraries may have the opportunity to experience kayaking in these unique environs. Available on selected voyages and accompanied by specialist guides, pre-booking this adventure option will give your voyage an individual twist. To experience the beauty of the Arctic from a kayak is truly unforgettable; as you paddle silently amongst the ice you’ll have the chance to explore the breathtaking scenery and marine life of this frozen wilderness close up.
Each trip is led by qualified kayak instructors and accompanied by a Zodiac safety boat. Stable Prijon kayaks are supplied, together with dry suits. Previous experience of kayaking is compulsory.
Kayaking is available on the Around Spitsbergen, Heart of the Northwest Passage and High Arctic Explorer itineraries, on board the following vessels: Akademik Sergey Vavilov, Akademik Shokalskiy and Akademik Ioffe. All adventure activities are on a pre-registered basis only – early booking is essential.
