The ingenuity of the design and construction of the ICEHOTEL has to be seen to be believed and, with an interior temperature kept at a constant -5°C, it really does take your breath away. Yes, there are other ice constructions to be found around the world but here in Jukkasjarvi, is where it all began. It’s the original and undoubtedly the most spectacular of all.

The Icehotel Experience

The Icehotel has to be the best advertisement for recycling in the extreme. With an ingenious mix of ice and snow, plenty of engineering know-how and supreme design flare, it is created in December then left to melt back into the river Torne in April, meaning that no two designs are ever the same.

The impressive ice structure consists of a range of ice bedrooms and a spectacular ICEBAR. Rooms and corridors radiate from a magnificent central hallway adorned with ice crystal chandeliers. The glistening white snow, clean lines and contemporary feel of the interior is filled with intricate ice sculptures and snow carvings, all cleverly illuminated. In the ICEBAR, brightly coloured vodka cocktails are served in glasses carved from ice - naturally.

ACCOMMODATION
There are different types of ice accommodation available ranging from Snow Rooms to uniquely themed Art Suites created by award-winning international ice artists and your night 'sleeping on ice' is complemented by stylish heated accommodation for the other 2 or 3-nights of your stay.

PURITY THROUGHOUT
As the Torne is a free-flowing river, bubbles are not trapped in the water when it freezes which creates some of the purest, crystal clear ice in the world. Huge blocks are harvested each February and March and stored for the construction of the next ICEHOTEL that following winter, as well as exported for use in Icebars worldwide.
