Iceland truly is one of the most fascinating countries in Europe in terms of natural wonders and remarkable scenery. Comprising glaciers, mountains, gorges, waterfalls, volcanoes and a raft of geothermal features all wrapped up in a centuries-old Norse culture, this is truly a unique European destination. Iceland offers students invaluable hands-on experience in an array of subject areas covering cold environments to tourism management. There is simply nowhere better for bringing the classroom alive.
Our itineraries are based on both curriculum objectives as well as offering the chance to move away from the textbooks and engage in experiential learning, with students enjoying the spectacular natural landscapes without the limits of a field work assignment. Of course, this is your trip; we can tailor-make it just for you across the whole range of school subjects, from geography to photography, biology to geology.
In Iceland, students and teachers alike are incredibly lucky that the natural processes which form our world – glacial movement, erosion, tectonic movement – are all so evident and all so unfailingly spectacular. The valleys carved by glaciers or plates splitting apart are gargantuan, the waterfalls and their gorges thundering and beautiful, the geothermically active hot springs a fantastically relaxing and surreal experience. No student can fail to be caught up in the magic of Iceland – taking that excitement back to the classroom is invaluable. Where better to inspire the next generation of geographers?

Iceland Itineraries
We have a series of 'core' itineraries that tie in with certain elements of the curriculum, for those looking for field work or simply for 'tying in' curriculum knowledge with Iceland’s natural landscape. Field work is of course not in any way compulsory on any of these trips, and many teachers decide that the trip will be more beneficial if students are left to explore the natural playground on their own initiative. find out more »
