Multi-day Trails

If you have a passion for the great outdoors and enjoy hiking, New Zealand is the ideal holiday destination for you. Not only does it boast 9 Great Walks, such as the world famous Milford Track, but it also offers hundreds of well marked and scenic walking trails in national parks throughout the country. There is no denying that the main lure remains with the multi-day tracks – a collection of hiking trails which range from 3-5 days and take in some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Several of these walks can be incorporated into a tailor-made touring itinerary.

Many of these tracks are located on the South Island including the highly rated Routeburn Track, which offers forested valleys, alpine passes and river flats contrasting wonderfully with the verdant coastal paths of the Abel Tasman Track. Other popular multi-day tracks include the Queen Charlotte and Hollyford Tracks. On the North Island, the Tongariro Alpine Trail, which is recognised as one of the best one day walks in the world, is one not to miss.
