Introduction
Join a breathtaking journey that leads you to the most impressive and elusive of all penguin species – the emperor. Travel by icebreaker and helicopter past tabular icebergs to Snow Hill Island in the Weddell Sea to witness the awe-inspiring sight of emperor penguins interacting with each other. This is the only species of penguin to nest on the frozen ocean as depicted in stunning documentary footage.
During the October and November 2009 departures of this expedition, a BBC film crew will be on board filming Frozen Planet, the sequel to Planet Earth.
The 25th October 25 2010 sailing will be joined by Peter Fretwell, mapping expert for the British Antarctic Survey. He will be sharing satellite images and behind-the-scenes stories of discovery.
