Scott and Shackleton's Antarctica
This expedition offers the chance to experience the remote Ross Sea region of Antarctica, an area synonymous with the Heroic Age of Exploration. Visit the huts of Scott, Shackleton, and Borchgrevink, which stand today as testimony to the endurance and determination of these legendary men and their fellow-explorers.
The Ross Sea was named after James Clark Ross in 1841 and is home to the famous Ross Ice Shelf, a flat topped body of glacial ice roughly the same size as France. In addition to the fascinating history of the region, wildlife is in abundance and the scenery is spectacular with huge tabular icebergs and distant volcanic mountains. As well as the highlights of the Ross Sea, there will also be plenty of time to explore the wildlife-rich Sub-Antarctic Islands that lie between Antarctica and Australasia.
