Introduction
With white sand beaches, sparkling blue water and eye-catching orange mountains (created by lichen-covered granite), the colourful north-east corner of Tasmania is well worth exploring on foot. Led by well-informed Tasmanian guides, small groups can explore both the fascinating beach environment and the rich diversity of the nearby woodlands.
During the walk an overnight stay is included at the Forester Beach Camp. Here, twin-share rooms with timber floors, canvas roofs and full kitchen facilities provide perfect seclusion in a setting of unspoiled beauty. Private wash areas and composting toilets provide comfort without harming the environment. Located within the National Park, the camp is close to the beach where you can swim or snorkel before enjoying a picnic under the vast starry night sky.
Two nights are spent at the spectacular Bay of Fires Lodge, which is set on a remote hilltop 40 metres above the pounding sea and surrounded by National Park. This beautiful property has been designed to blend in with its natural surroundings and with minimal impact to the environment. The area is of great significance to the Aboriginal community and boasts outstanding views of pristine white sandy beaches. The main living area of the lodge is the perfect place to relax and enjoy delicious meals prepared with the freshest local produce, accompanied by fine Tasmanian wines.
