Introduction
Enjoy a day at Michaelmas Cay, a major seabird nesting island in the northern Great Barrier Reef. A total of 38 bird species have been recorded on this small coral cay, whilst under the water the spectacular coral and diverse marine life are well worth exploring.
Offering a complete contrast back on the mainland, a 2-night stay at the Mareeba Wetlands on the northern edge of the Atherton Tablelands allows plenty of time to experience the open savannah woodland, grassland, and freshwater wetlands of this 2000 hectare Reserve. Here you can enjoy fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities, including up to 206 species of birds, as well as bush walking and photography.
