Itinerary
Day 1 Melbourne – Mornington Peninsula
Collect your rental car and explore the Mornington Peninsula, arguably Melbourne's best kept secret. Some of the highlights of the area include Art and craft markets, antique stores, coastal and bush walks, and koala and penguin reserves. The Peninsula is also one of Australia's finest wine producing regions.
Day 2 Mornington Peninsula – Lakes Entrance (364kms)
Travel through the Gippsland Lakes district, Australia's largest inland water system. It is a popular holiday destination with wonderful beaches as well as a spectacular hinterland with mountains, rivers and forests. Wildlife in the area includes dolphins, water birds, kangaroos, wombats and koalas.
Day 3 Lakes Entrance
A full day to explore Lakes Entrance and the many nearby attractions.
Day 4 Lakes Entrance – Merimbula (270kms)
Travel via the towns of Bellbird Creek, Orbost and Nowa Nowa to arrive at your overnight accommodation in Merimbula. Merimbula is situated around the beautiful coastal waterways of Merimbula, Top and Back Lakes. These clean tidal lakes are ideal for watersports.
Day 5 Merimbula – Batemans Bay (180kms)
Depart Merimbula continue travelling north through the pretty coastal resort towns of Bermagui, Tilba Tilba and Narooma. Batemans Bay is situated on the mouth of the Clyde River and the area is renowned for fresh oysters and prawns.
Day 6 Batemans Bay – Sydney (274kms)
Arrive in Sydney and drop off your rental vehicle.
