Itinerary
Day 1 Alice Springs – Kings Canyon (473kms)
Collect your 4WD vehicle and depart Alice Springs for Kings Canyon. Spectacular Kings Canyon is the deepest gorge in the Red Centre, featuring waterholes, palm trees and sheer rock walls. A path to the rim of the gorge leads to the Lost City, where the rock has worn away to resemble ruins.
Day 2 Kings Canyon – Ayers Rock (302kms)
En route to Ayers Rock a detour to explore the 36 domes of Kata-Tjuta (The Olgas) is highly recommended. Continue to Ayers Rock, the world's largest monolith, rising 348 metres above the mulga plain. Named "Uluru" by the Aborigines, it is a sacred monument to them, and the walls of the caves which comb the base are covered in Aboriginal carvings and paintings.
Day 3 Ayers Rock
Day at leisure to explore Ayers Rock and its surrounds.
Day 4 Depart Ayers Rock
This morning you may wish to take a walk through the caves at the base of the Rock. Return your vehicle prior to your departure from Ayers Rock.
