Australia : Reef and Rainforest

Day 1 Cairns – Cape Tribulation (145kms)
Collect your rental car and commence your drive north to Cape Tribulation, via Port Douglas and Mossman. The Daintree Cape Tribulation coast is where the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rainforest meet, the only place on earth where two World Heritage areas exist side by side

Day 2 Cape Tribulation
Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore the Cape Tribulation area, home to lush tropical rainforests, crystal clear swimming creeks and long sandy beaches.

Day 3 Cape Tribulation – Atherton Tablelands (135kms)
Head south-west, passing through Mount Molloy and Mareeba and on to Yungaburra. We recommend a stop at Lake Barrine, a crater lake formed by volcanic explosions, where you can enjoy a cream tea and a lake cruise.

Day 4 Atherton Tablelands
Today is free to explore the Atherton Tablelands and its surrounds, a land of beautiful lakes, waterfalls, rich red soil and tropical rainforest.

Day 5 Atherton – Mission Beach (160kms)
Head off early down the Range towards Innisfail, taking a short stop at Millaa Millaa Falls on the way. Continue south to Mission Beach. Hugging the coast for about 14kms, Mission Beach takes in a handful of villages from Garners Beach in the north to Kennedy Bay in the south.

Day 6 Mission Beach
Spend a day relaxing in Mission Beach or experience the thrill of white water rafting on the Tully River. The nearby Misty Mountains Trails (15kms from Tully) will challenge even the best bush walker!

Day 7 Mission Beach – Cairns (140kms)
Depart Mission Beach today for Cairns. You may wish to stop at the Johnstone River Crocodile Farm in Innisfail. Here there are over 1500 crocodiles on display, ranging in size from 30 centimetres to 5 metres! You can also see kangaroos, wallabies, peacocks, emus and cassowary birds. Drop off your rental car on arrival in Cairns.
