Introduction
Every July the city of Calgary, Alberta, is transformed as it celebrates its cowboy heritage. The 10-day event features parades, concerts, fireworks, square dancing, First Nations exhibitions, amusements, rides and, of course, the world’s largest rodeo.
Professional cowboys compete in a myriad of events, including bullriding, roping, chuckwagon racing, steer wrestling and barrel racing, whilst elsewhere the city is full of party atmosphere, with cowboy boots, Stetsons and checked shirts the obligatory uniform and huge pancake breakfasts freely available.

This incredible experience is a must for anyone wanting to sample a bit of the Old Wild West - and 2012 will be extra special as the Stampede celebrates its 100th Anniversary! | |
