Hire either snow shoes or cross-country skis for a day and explore one of the many specially marked and lit trails in the picturesque surrounds. No instruction given and the day is not guided.
Northern Lights Safari (Kakslauttanen)

Travel by snowmobile deep into the wilderness outside Saariselka and head up to a vantage point for uninterrupted views of the fells and hopefully, a sighting of the northern lights, conditions permitting. Hot drinks by the campfire before heading back. Price includes third party insurance (self-risk excess € 800). Drivers must hold a valid driving licence.
Reindeer Safari (Kakslauttanen)

Combine a visit to the fascinating Sami Museum at Silda, dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Finnish Sami, with a spot of ice fishing on beautiful Lake Inari. Travel by sledge or snowmobile. Please note that this excursion needs a minimum number of 4 people to operate.

Intelligent and affectionate, these huskies are a joy to meet. Once the six eager dogs are harnessed and you’ve had a briefing, drive your own team over the fells, two persons to a sledge, taking turns to mush. The trip is open to all ages, small children must be accompanied by an adult and the longer tour also includes lunch.
