Greenland : Greenland Coastal Voyage

Departures: June - August Duration: 7 nights Price: from £2,759

Greenland’s grandeur is unquestionable. Sailing plays a hugely important role in the Greenlandic infrastructure and a cruise along the west coast, travelling on the same vessel as the locals, is a fabulous way of sampling the diversity of this beautiful, dramatic country and its people.

Itinerary

Day 1 fly from UK to Keflavik on a Friday. Transfer to accommodation in Reykjavik.

Day 2 take a short taxi ride (payable locally) to Reykjavik City Airport, for your flight to Ilulissat. Transfer to Hotel Arctic, meet your guide for a voyage briefing, and enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 3 at leisure in Ilulissat to enjoy an optional excursion or activity. Transfer to the pier at 16:00 and embark on the MV Sarfaq Ittuk which sets sail an hour later on its southbound voyage. Late this evening enjoy a short stop in Aasiaat.

Day 4 at 09:00 dock at Sisimiut for a 2 hour visit. This picturesque town with a mountainous backdrop has an old quarter with many traditional wooden buildings including a blue church dating from 1775. Perhaps stretch your legs at a quick stop late this evening in Maniitosoq.

Day 5 Continuing south make an early call at Nuuk (07:30-13:00). Here, in Greenland’s capital, watch as the ‘catch of the day’ is sold along the bustling harbour side.

Day 6 Enjoy an early morning short stop at Paamiut (06:00), followed by another short stop in Narsaq (21:30). Arrive at midnight in Qaqortoq, South Greenland's largest town and perhaps one of Greenland's most attractive. A guide will transfer you to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7 After breakfast at the hotel, there will be a short city tour of Qaqortoq. Afterwards you will be taken from Qaqortoq pier through Eric's Fjord to Narsarsuaq pier by boat and then onwards to the airport in time for the Air Iceland flight back to Reykjavik Domestic Airport. Take a short taxi ride (payable locally) to Reykjavik accommodation.

Day 8 Transfer to Keflavik for return flight to UK.
