Introduction
Over 80% of Greenland is covered by an ice sheet. Over millions of years, the weight and movements of this sheet have led to the creation of some of the most spectacular scenery on earth and the Greenland coast is also home to the Arctic’s most diverse iceberg landscape.
During this voyage, the aim is to spend as much time on land as possible to allow you to explore, take time to take photographs, or just soak up the incredible sights. By departing in September it should be possible to take advantage of the optimum atmospheric conditions which produce the famous Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. With some luck, you should see this fantastic light display at least a couple of times over the course of the trip.
In addition, the voyage will also focus on an active exploration of Greenland, with a number of full-day and half-day walking tours available to suit all levels of fitness. This tour offers once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to hike some of the most pristine wilderness on the planet, as well as enjoying close encounters with wildlife and the chance to meet some of the local Inuits who call this remote coastline home.
