Introduction
This voyage focuses predominantly on Spitsbergen’s west coast, spending less time at sea to enable more time on land and in the zodiacs. The main aim of this trip is to enjoy Svalbard’s wealth of wildlife and breathtaking Arctic scenery.
Easily accessible and yet offering a true sense of remoteness, Spitsbergen is the largest island of the Svalbard archipelago. Even with only a brief foray into the icy wilderness you may see polar bears, reindeer, walrus and belugas, as well as a huge variety of seabirds including skua, Arctic terns and snow buntings.
For the more active there is a chance to enjoy sea-kayaking (additional cost, must be pre-booked) – a truly magical way to experience this unique environment, especially if you are lucky enough to paddle with beluga whales.
