Not quite a circular route, this itinerary cuts across part of the craggy highland interior, where you'll use your 4WD vehicle to pass through some truly breathtaking and remote scenery. For the other parts of your itinerary take advantage of the mostly paved roads with the option to choose a lower category vehicle.  As with all of our self-drive itineraries, contact us to tailor-make your itinerary to suit you!  

Accommodation is in a range of comfortable, good-value properties. A favourite is Vatnsholt Farm near Selfoss with its cosy cottages and large dining/play barn. Children love the resident menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, cows and ducks. The farm's views of the Eyjafjallajokull and Hekla volcanoes are mesmerising.
