Introduction
Who for? Those looking to venture further afield to the more remote regions of Iceland, especially those who have already visited the south or north of the country.
Start your holiday with an overnight in Reykjavik, before heading to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in the West, the setting for Jules Verne's book 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth'. See little fishing villages, vast lava fields and sweeping bays, backed by a volcano topped by a glacier - Snaefellsjokull.
Take the Baldur ferry across Breidafjordur Bay into the West Fjords, and explore the astonishing 14 km long bird cliffs at Latrabjarg - a must for any keen ornithologist. Continue to the pretty and far-flung town of Isafjordur and perhaps kayak or take a boat trip to explore its majestic surroundings. Trace the edge of the fjords on the road back to the south west of the country; this is a photographer's paradise and thanks to long daylight hours there is plenty of time to explore! Enjoy the expertise and knowledge of a friendly driver/guide on this small group itinerary.
