Introduction
Who for? If you've been inspired by the BBC programme 'Julia Bradbury's Iceland Walk', then this fantastic itinerary explores those areas.
This 5-day trek, with the support of a 4x4 jeep transfer for food and equipment, takes in some truly inaccessible areas of Iceland, only explored on foot. Enjoy the company of between 4-14 fellow hikers in total, staying in tents enroute. One of the most popular trails for walking in Iceland, the Laugavegur route takes in Landmannalaugar's steaming hot springs, the central Icelandic highlands, and the lush Thorsmork valley. 'Thor's Wood' was deeply affected by the Eyjafjallajokull eruption in May 2010, and this walk offers the chance to witness the power of the planet for real.
Staying under canvas, this is a tour which involves group participation in putting up the tents, cooking, and general 'housekeeping' duties whilst on the trek - a fun and rewarding experience all round!
