Iceland : Mt Hekla to the Ocean Trek

Who for? Those who want to get 'off the beaten track' and discover the southern volcanic 'back country' from Mt Hekla to Skogar. Carry only a small day pack (your kit and food is transferred each day by jeep).

Join a small group of fellow-minded hikers (only 8-12 people); on a trek through Iceland's remote and rugged interior. Wander through hidden valleys, past hot springs, and take in Iceland's raw nature. Botanists in the group will be fascinated by the delicate flora (mosses and grasses, as well as alpine herb fields, berries, shrubs and dwarf trees!), whilst birdwatchers will be captivated by the birdlife (golden plover, ptarmigan and snow bunting).

For ease, enjoy the luxury of having your kit and food transported by 4WD vehicle each day - stay in tents each night (option to pre-book hut accommodation - at advance request). Each day involves an average of around 6-8 hrs hiking, ending with a tasty and nourishing meal amongst new friends!

Staying under canvas, this is a tour which involves group participation in putting up the tents, cooking, and general 'housekeeping' duties whilst on the trek - a fun and rewarding experience all round!
