Beast of the East - Rafting in the North

This 3-4 hr wild river ride is for experienced white water rafters, or those with a thirst for some serious adventure! The rapids' names tell it all - Screaming Lady, Lost and Green Room. Get an extra adrenaline burst with the chance (conditions permitting) to launch yourself into the river from a eight metre high jumping rock towards the end of the ride. The 'East Glacier River' derives from the icecap Hofsjokull, making for class 4+ white water river. This powerful rush of glacial meltwater takes you through the breathtakingly beautiful Austurdalur valley gorge and is one of the top commercially rafted rivers in Europe.
Note some previous experience of river rafting or a strong spirit of adventure is recommended. Base Camp at Hafgrimsstadir (Skagafjordur fjord in North Iceland) is approx. 10 km south of the village of Varmahlid.
Blue Ice - Glacier Hiking & Ice Climbing

This excursion takes you to the frozen glacial tongue of Solheimajokull. Accompanied by an expert guide, walk with crampons up onto the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and crevasses awaits. Along the way can try your hand at ice climbing (equipment provided) on one of the impressive ice walls. Includes approx. 4 hrs on the glacier, glacier gear and safety equipment. Bring warm clothing, rain gear and hiking boots. *Available with transfers from Reykjavik, or meet at the Solheimajokull car park (11:30 daily for self-drive clients).
Minimum age 14 years. Level: easy.

The award-winning Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s premier attractions. Set amidst a field of black basalt lava, the temperature in this stunning lagoon averages a relaxing 35-40°C and powder-blue mineral rich waters mix with seawater. The concept is ingenious, the experience therapeutic and totally relaxing.
Boat Trip on the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon

A boat trip on the fascinating glacial lagoon is highly recommended. A trip amongst the icebergs is unforgettable and the photographic opportunities are endless. Join this excursion from in front of the cafe/little shop which is just beside the lagoon, just off of the ring road (Road 1). Life jackets are provided. Dress up warmly and don't forget your camera! There are regular departures between 09:00 and 19:00.

Deep Into the Blue - Diving Tour

Possibly one of the most unique dives you'll ever experience! Two dives allow you to
explore below the surface at Thingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; it is here that the
Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. Silfra fissure is the world-class dive
site, between 10-30 metres deep and with crystal clear waters - explore the lava walls and dive
between the earth's crust! Supplement to take a dry-suit speciality qualification is
an additional £139 per licence. Snorkellers can join this trip for £72 per person. Dive
qualification requirement: PADI open water or compatible required, PADI advanced and dry suit
certificates recommended. All dives are performed in a dry suit. Age limit: 18 years.

Dettifoss Waterfall by 4WD or Superjeep

Dettifoss is Europe's most powerful waterfall, with an astounding 212 tonnes of water per second flowing over its edge, causing the ground to shake! Accessible via a rough track, the perfect way to get there is by superjeep with an expert driver/guide, whether in summer or the icy depths of winter!
Glacier Grand Slam - Glacier Hike and Jokulsarlon Cruise

One of our most popular excursions in South Iceland, focuses on Vatnajokull glacier! A short walk through fields of moss and black lava stones leads to the glacier's tongue, where your expert guide will take you on a hike on crampons onto the ice. Find out fascinating facts about the glacier and capture a myriad of blue hues on camera. Next, drive to the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon, where icebergs calve off the glacier front into calm waters. Take a memorable 30-40 minute boat ride amongst these immense blocks of ice, and if you are lucky spot the odd friendly seal! This excursion is all about seeing the glacier from different angles.
Minimum age 15 yrs. Transfers are from Hotel Skaftafell and various campsites in the area.
Horse Riding in the North East

The sure-footed, strong but gentle Icelandic horses are suited to beginners and experienced riders alike. Choose from a number of rides from 1 to 2 hours. All depart from this friendly and informal riding centre located just south of the pretty fishing village of Husavik.

Experience riding the world's most pure-bred horse on a choice of riding excursions close to Hveragerdi, around a half hour drive from Reykjavik. From Eldhestar Horse Riding Centre (Vellir Farm) choose excursions lasting from one to a three hours. Riders are matched with horses according to experience.
