Day 1 UK - Iceland (16 Feb)

Fly from the UK to Keflavik and transfer to the either the Grand Hotel or Hotel Klettur in Reykjavik.

Day 2 Golden Circle and transfer to Grundarfjörður (17 Feb)

Meet with your group and guide and begin your tour of the Golden Circle route, including visits to the tectonic marvel of Thingvellir National Park, the mighty two-tiered waterfall Gullfoss and the spouting geyser Strokkur in the Geysir geothermal area. In the late afternoon transfer to the remote fishing village of Grundarfjordur on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula for the next 5 nights. Check into either Hotel Frames on FB basis or Guesthouse Grundarfjörður on B&B basis.

Day 3 Whale Watching (18 Feb)

Head out into the bay on a morning whale watching tour. In the afternoon enjoy a guided village walk. Alternatively, it is possible (weather-permitting) to take a short hike in the area.

Day 4 Exploring Snæfellsnes (19 Feb)

Enjoy a full day tour exploring the natural wonders of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in specially adapted 4X4 trucks before settling down for an evening of lectures.

Day 5 Whale Watching (20 Feb)

Take another morning boat trip. In the afternoon enjoy some free time to relax at the hotel, take a short hike around the local area or join an optional horse riding or farm visit excursion (at additional cost and payable locally).

Day 6 Whale Watching (21 Feb)

In the morning enjoy your final whale watching excursion. After lunch at the hotel, take some more time to relax or explore as you wish.

Day 7 Grundarfjordur-Reykjavik (22 Feb)

After breakfast transfer to Reykjavik for a guided city tour. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure with the chance to take an optional whale watching trip from Reykjavik in search of minke whales (dependent on weather conditions). Bid farewell to your guide before checking into Grand Hotel or Hotel Klettur for the last overnight stay on a breakfast basis, then dine at one of the many excellent restaurants in Reykjavik (payable locally).

Day 8 Blue Lagoon and return to UK (23 Feb)

Transfer to Keflavik Airport via the world famous Blue Lagoon, for a relaxing bathe in its milky waters, before transferring to Keflavik Airport for you return flights to the UK.

Please note

• Whalefest will be divided into 3 groups, each with a slighly different operating schedule. Confirmation of which group you are booked on will be highlighted in your documentation.
• Customers staying at the Guesthouse can purchase a full board package in advance with lunch and dinner at the restaurant at Hotel Framnes. Alternatively in Grundarfjordur there is a pub called Café 59 serving traditional Icelandic food and also a fast food restaurant. You can also make use of the large communal area with a fully equipped kitchen at the Guesthouse and buy basic supplies from the shop which is within walking distance. Sandwiches can also be brought there.
