Black & Blue - Caving and Snorkelling at Thingvellir

Experience the amazing phenomenon that is Thingvellir National Park, from a very different angle! Thingvellir is where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet; explore Gjabakkahellir cave - a prime example of an Icelandic lava tube. After a packed lunch, it's time for snorkelling in Silfra fissure's crystal clear waters.
Snorkel gear provided. Bring warm outdoor clothing, waterproofs, gloves, warm base and
mid-layers (fleece top and warm trousers), warm socks, towel and change of clothing. Good hiking
shoes recommended. Includes transfers from Reykjavik.

Blue Ice - Glacier Hiking & Ice Climbing

This excursion takes you to the frozen glacial tongue of Solheimajokull. Accompanied by an expert guide, walk with crampons up onto the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and crevasses awaits. Along the way can try your hand at ice climbing (equipment provided) on one of the impressive ice walls. Includes approx. 4 hrs on the glacier, glacier gear and safety equipment. Bring warm clothing, rain gear and hiking boots. *Available with transfers from Reykjavik, or meet at the Solheimajokull car park (11:30 daily for self-drive clients).

Possibly one of the most unique dives you'll ever experience! Two dives allow you to
explore below the surface at Thingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; it is here that the
Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. Silfra fissure is the world-class dive
site, between 10-30 metres deep and with crystal clear waters - explore the lava walls and dive
between the earth's crust! Supplement to take a dry-suit speciality qualification is
an additional £139 per licence. Snorkellers can join this trip for £72 per person. Dive
qualification requirement: PADI open water or compatible required, PADI advanced and dry suit
certificates recommended. All dives are performed in a dry suit. Age limit: 18 years.

Eyjafjallajokull Volcano by Superjeep and Lava Hike

A superb value combi-trip for those looking for some serious adventure! Ride an quad bike along the Hellisheidi pass and alongside the Hengill volcano, racing through lava fields and lunar landscapes. Lunch is typically Icelandic, at the Litla Kaffistofan roadside diner before transferring by mini-van to the rafting base camp, and experience the Hvita River on a thrilling 7km ride through crashing waves and rapids. Take advantage of the base's saunas and hot tubs, and enjoy a delicious volcanic BBQ dinner, before heading back to Reykjavik.
Minimum age 10 yrs as a passenger on the ATV, 12 yrs for rafting the whole river, 10 yrs for rafting half the river. A supplement of around £14 is payable should you wish to drive your own bike (standard price based on two sharing). Should you wish to substitute rafting for white water canoeing, a supplement of around £6 is payable. A valid driving license is required to drive the quad bike.

A challenging 6-8 hrs hike to the 'Gateway to Hell' as Mt. Hekla is known! Hekla is the second most active volcano in Iceland, and visiting this area is an absolute must for anyone interested in volcanoes and geology. Witness for yourself the effects of both recent (Feb 2000) and age-old volcanic activity. From its slopes, which rise up to approx. 1,500 metres, it is possible to see all of the Fjallabak mountain range and across to Vatnajokull glacier (Europe's largest) on a clear day.
Includes packed lunch and use of glacier gear (if needed). Age limit 16 yrs.
Horse Riding in the South West

Experience riding the world's most pure-bred horse on a choice of riding excursions close to Hveragerdi, around a half hour drive from Reykjavik.
