Iceland : The Diamond Circle

Day 1 transfer from Keflavik Airport to a guesthouse in Reykjavik. Attend an evening welcome meeting including a light supper of traditional Icelandic soup.

Day 2 fly to Akureyri and drive to Saltvik Farm where you meet your guides and horses. Ride into the mountains along the Laxa River to a plateau. Stay overnight at Saltvik Farm with outdoor hot tubs.

Day 3 ride over to Laxardalur Valley and follow the river all the way to Lake Myvatn for an overnight at Guesthouse Vogar.

Day 4 continue the ride towards Mt. Sandfell, through the valleys, enjoying excellent riding paths and viewing parts of the mighty Odadahraun lava field, the largest lava field in Iceland. Stay overnight at the cosy Guesthouse Kidagil on the banks of a glacial river.

Day 5 you ride through a valley and follow a river before the trail leads you to the magnificent waterfall Godafoss. Riding on the river banks of this beautiful and historical waterfall is a moment to remember! The horses rest at a farm while you are driven to Saltvik for an overnight stay.

Day 6 enjoy a last riding day through beautiful landscape characterised by a rich birch forest and vast lava fields. Cross heathland before bringing the horses home to Saltvik farm for another night and enjoy the hot outdoor tubs!

Optional activity (available at an extra charge): whale watching - at Husavik harbour a boat is waiting to go out on a whale watching cruise. Please contact our office for details.

Day 7 return to Akureyri for the flight back to Reykjavik, arrival approx. 13:30. Overnight in a guesthouse in Reykjavik.

Day 8 transfer by bus to Keflavik Airport in time for the flight back home.
