Iceland : West Fjords Winter Adventure

Day 1 Reykjavik fly from the UK to Keflavik, transfer to the city and overnight at Hotel Cabin. 

Day 2 Reykjavik-Heydalur morning pick up from Reykjavik (approx. 10:00), and transfer in excursion (by 4x4 vehicle or superjeep) through stunning landscapes to the West Fjords (Heydalur). Visit historical places enroute; this could include the Settlement Museum at Borganes, or a stop at Europe’s largest hotspring area and a beautiful waterfall at Borgafjordur. Total transfer time is approx. 6-7 hrs, including stops*. Enjoy a dinner at Heydalur and afterwards relax in a steaming hotspring. Possibility of seeing the northern lights if skies are clear.

Day 3 Heydalur after breakfast enjoy a guided fishing tour; dependent on the weather this will be either be by snowmobile, jeep or horse. The search for the northern lights begins after a 3-course evening meal.

Day 4 Heydalur following breakfast, a morning excursion in the beautiful landscape around Heydalur. Afternoon is at leisure; perhaps take a walk or bathe in the hotpot at Heydalur. After dinner keep an eye out for the magical aurora borealis.

Day 5 Heydalur choose from a trip to the main town in the West Fjords; Isafjordur, or activities at Heydalur.

Day 6 Heydalur-Reykjavik the return transfer to Reykjavik (by 4x4 vehicle) commences after breakfast. Perhaps stop enroute* for a short while in Holmavik, where guests may visit the Museum of Witchcraft. Overnight at Hotel Cabin.

Day 7 depart Keflavik return transfer to Keflavik, for the flight back to the UK.

*Activities and time spent at stops enroute will depend on road and weather conditions (storms and blizzards are possible - this is all part of the adventure!). The driver/guide will be happy to stop as and when necessary for comfort breaks.
