Our 21 day Essential New Zealand self-drive itinerary includes many of the scenic and cultural highlights of both islands. From Auckland to the sub-tropical Bay of Islands and the beauty of the Coromandel Peninsula, travel south via Napier, New Zealand’s famous Art Deco city, before heading to the capital city of Wellington. 

Journey across the Marlborough Sounds to the South Island where you can enjoy the arts and crafts of charming Nelson and the dramatic landscapes of the wild west coast, before travelling south to the Southern Lakes region, blessed with an abundance of stunning scenery. Spend time here before exploring Dunedin, with its cultural riches, fine architecture and world-famous wildlife reserves on the Otago Peninsula. Travel back to Christchurch via the beautiful Mt Cook region and enjoy the serenity of Lake Tekapo.
