New Zealand : West Coast Glaciers Cycle

With its grinding glaciers, luxuriant rainforests and surf-pounded cliffs and beaches, the landscapes of this alluring region are among the most dramatic in New Zealand.
But this trip is not just about cycling. The glaciers are an invitation to adventure and we take a guided walk to explore this wonderland of snow and ice, which paradoxically is located right by an ancient moss and lichen-clad rainforest.

At the end of each invigorating day, you’ll enjoy the comfort of lodge and guesthouse accommodation, in rooms with private facilities, and an imaginative evening meal in the company of like-minded travellers. The whole experience starts from New Zealand’s adventure capital Queenstown and the sunny, dry mountain landscapes of Central Otago and ends with one of the world’s great rail journeys, on board the TranzAlpine train to Christchurch.

Note this tour follows our “cycle the best & drive the rest policy” - it is not possible to cycle the whole route. Distances as mentioned below are guidelines, these tours have an element of flexibility and actual distances on the day will depend on the weather, other activities and group & individual fitness. On all our tours strong riders will get as much cycling as they want & slower riders always have the option of a ride in the support vehicle.
