Introduction

Enjoy the great outdoors and spend some true quality time together on this active family wilderness trip. Discover the beautiful region of Varmland in a myriad of adventurous ways including floating down a river; hiking through forests; travelling by horse and cart; pedalling a specially-built trolley over disused railway tracks and leisurely canoeing downstream through picturesque countryside - at all times, keeping your eyes open for the local wildlife perhaps spotting moose and eagles.

Spend a day using GPS on a 10 or 18 km hike across an old bear hunter trail, ending at your homely country inn where their delicious ice cream awaits! The enchanting River Klaralven is one of the longest waterways in Scandinavia and you'll get the chance to float down part of it on a timber raft at a rate of around 2 km per hour! This gives you time to swim, fish or simply relax and look out for the beavers and otters that live along its banks. Spend the night on an island in a tepee, and cook dinner over a campfire. Continue downstream by canoe then transfer to your guesthouse where you'll spend the next two nights at leisure to enjoy optional activities and maybe a swim in the lake nearby.

A unique cycling path has been built on top of disused railiway tracks and on day three instead of bikes, you'll pedal specially-built trolleys or platforms on a beautiful ride along the Klarälvs Banan. Not as strenuous as cycling as the terrain is flat although everyone will still need to pedal to propel the trolley! As you journey along you'll be able to focus on the unspoiled forest, lakes, rolling hills, historical sites and charming buildings on the route.

Return to a more familiar form of transportation on the penultimate day with a scenic bike ride along another stretch of the Klarälvs Banan back to Hotel Uddehom where you can relax for your final evening in Varmland.

This wonderful 7-night holiday ends in Stockholm but why not extend your trip and spend a day or two exploring Sweden's fascinating capital, making the most of the many attractions and places of interest it offers. Call us to discuss your options.
