Curious about volcanoes in Iceland? We have proven experience of organising 'volcano trips' for people wanting to visit a live eruption site, usually within 24-48 hours of the eruption starting. The volcano eruption holidays we offered in March 2010 were incredibly successful, and Discover the World is now able to offer tours to see the remarkable landscape shaped by the latest Eyjafjallajokull eruption (April-May 2010). The eruption has quietened significantly, with steam rising from the vent. However with the solidified lava flows and fragmented glacier, this area is an outstanding attraction to any visitor curious to see the volcano for themselves.
If you've any questions about the volcano in connection with your holiday to Iceland, please read our Volcano Q&As, or simply contact our team of Iceland specialists on 01737 218800. |

| By Superjeep | Enjoy a 5-hour tour on the Myrdalsjokull glacier by superjeep; see the newest lava fields and the remarkable ash-covered glacier. Visit the first fissure area at Fimmvorduhals, where the eruption at Eyjafjallajokull began (between the two glaciers). |
Important note trips are weather-dependent. Minimum numbers apply. You may be asked by the local excursion operator to sign a consent form and sign a liability waiver. As with trips of this nature, there is an inherent risk involved which we must make you aware of. We are unaware of how long the eruption will continue, therefore we recommend travelling as soon as possible.
Our MD, Clive Stacey, was certainly 'wowed' by this once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing a live volcano eruption in Iceland. Read his personal account from first learning about the eruption in the early hours one Sunday morning in March, to seeing it first hand, click here »
