What you need to know
WILL THE GROUPS BE SMALL?
That depends on your chosen tour – the maximum group size is shown on the webpage for each holiday, or contact us for further information. Our 'Jigsaw' tour series are with groups of between 12-20 people, our small group hiking tours have a maximum of around 12 walkers, the Classic Iceland escorted tour operates with a max. of 26 passengers, whereas the Superjeep Weekend Safari can have as few as two.
WHAT ARE THE GUIDES LIKE?
Our driver/guides are hand-picked for their dedication, enthusiasm, organisational and people skills. They are knowledgeable, helpful, caring and thoroughly professional and some have been working with us for over 20 years.
THE ITINERARIES
We spend a lot of time researching and planning our itineraries, and listening to feedback from our guides and clients. We try to be realistic about how much time is spent travelling or walking so that you book the tour that is right for you. As you’ll see from the holiday itineraries, most trips include a mix of touring and time exploring on foot, visiting specific attractions.
THE TRANSPORTATION
The size and type of transportation depends on your chosen tour and the number in the group. Modern buses are used on the Classic Iceland tours but basic, older and more robust mountain vehicles are used when driving on gravel roads and highland tracks - some itineraries simply require a minibus. Other more special interest tours use a 4WD or superjeep.
WHAT IS THE ACCOMMODATION LIKE?
We have carefully selected the hotels offered on our escorted itineraries. Accommodation varies dependent on the holiday; most hotels have their own restaurant and bar and rooms have private facilities and often telephone, TV and radio. Hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities are sometimes provided. Small group tours (North Iceland 'Jigsaw', North Hiking tour) staying at the 5-bedroom Lava House in the north are based on rooms with shared facilities. The Lava House boasts its own outdoor hot tub, lounge, kitchen and dining area. Farms and guesthouses vary from bed and breakfast establishments to hotel standard with private facilities, restaurant and bar. Again, more specific information may be found on each tour page and on our website.
Please note if you are unsure a certain tour is right for you, just call our team of experts and they will be happy to assist.
