Iceland Self-drive

We offer a comprehensive range of accommodation throughout Iceland including comfortable hotels, self-catering cottages and charming guesthouses.  In our collection of pre-planned itineraries set out on the following pages, we have selected what we consider to be the best value lodging option at each location. However, if you prefer then please do let us know your taste and budget, and we will be happy to suggest arrangements tailored to your specific requirements.

As the Iceland specialists for many years, we’ve developed longstanding relationships with many key hoteliers and property owners and can offer a tremendous amount of availability throughout the season. It may also be possible to make bookings at additional properties not mentioned here – it you have a specific hotel in mind, just give us a call! Please consider however that in certain areas accommodation choices may be limited due to the remote nature of the island, and the summer months (June-August) can be very busy.

Note although we have included specific hotels on our self-drive itineraries, this may be subject to change. We reserve the right to substitute a named property in the same locality for one of a similar standard or higher, and will ensure that you are fully informed in advance of the departure date, in the unlikely event that an alteration is required. Of course we offer a tailor-made service too, so do contact us if you would like to upgrade your accommodation or equally if your budget requires more economical options.

Accommodation Types 

		REYKJAVIK many of our pre-planned self-drive itineraries begin or end with time in the capital, or possibly both. Our itineraries have been put together using deluxe rooms at Hotel Cabin, unless otherwise stated. Details on Hotel Cabin may be found in our Reykjavik section, together with a choice of higher category properties. Any of our Reykjavik hotels may be substituted, subject to availability and applicable price changes.
		RURAL HOTELS & GUESTHOUSES we offer rooms with private shower/WC mostly in the 3 or 4 star range. These are in hotels or well appointed guesthouses. All supply breakfast (included in price) and most have a restaurant (some with seasonal opening hours).
		COTTAGES these are ideal for families as the self-catering establishments - cottages, cabins or wonderful summerhouses are fully equipped and have verandas with barbeques and some have outdoor hot tubs. Accommodation size and facilities vary between properties – early booking is essential!
		SUMMER HOTELS we also offer accommodation for the budget-conscious traveller – generally boarding at schools whilst closed for the summer holidays. Although basic, some establishments have surprisingly good facilities.
