Getting married in Kakslauttanen

A mere 80km from the Russian border, Kakslauttanen is buried deep in the heart of Finnish Lapland. It truly is a wonderful winter wilderness experience with delightful accommodation set amidst dazzling surrounds. And being this far north, your wedding could well be toasted by spectacular displays of the ethereal Northern Lights.

Choose from the romantic small wooden chapel in Tieva, a reindeer farm located by a small lake or even an ice chapel. For a really memorable experience choose to arrive in style on a sledge pulled by a team of reindeers or huskies, or even by snowmobile!

The Kakslauttanen hotel offers an inventive a la carte menu and the basement Piano Bar is a fantastic spot for a low-key reception. The traditional log cabins are dotted far enough apart to give the wedding couple some time and space – and for those wanting something completely different, twenty glass igloos provide an amazing experience. Built in a traditional dome shape, the warmly heated igloos allow an uninterrupted view of the skies and make you feel like you are sleeping under the stars. It’s hard to think of something more romantic than spending your wedding night watching the Northern Lights waltzing across the night sky above you. Alternatively why not consider the Queen Suite with outside hot tub or the special Honeymoon turf cabin? 

Getting married at the Lainio Snow Village

The stunning fell area of Yllas lies above the Arctic Circle close to the Swedish border. Of the seven fells here, Yllas at 718m (2,355ft) is one of the highest in Lapland and visitors are often overcome by the magnificent far reaching scenery covered in a deep blanket of perfect snow. What's more it's far northly location makes it ideal for viewing the aurora borealis.

Here you’ll find the charming Lainio Snow Village set in beautiful wooded surrounds with its quaint collection of log cabins and the superb spa hotel Yllas Saaga. You can choose from a ceremony in the dazzling Ice Chapel within the Snow Village or a romantic wooden chapel set within the forested surrounds. Both places provide unique experiences for both weddings and blessings. 

You can also renew your wedding vows here at the hut of Sami Shamen. Lit by torches and candles, reindeer sleighs will transfer you along the trail as you head through the snow-covered forest.

The Lainio Snow Village has a number of ice rooms available for couples looking for a unique way to spend their first night together as well as a Luxury Tepee with sauna, Jacuzzi, outside hot tub and sleeping loft complete with skylight windows.
