Day 1 fly from the UK to Keflavik, collect your rental vehicle and drive to Reykjavik for an overnight stay* at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum, in the historic centre of the city. Perhaps stop for a dip in the world-famous Blue Lagoon en route (additional cost - prepayable).

Day 2 drive north along a very scenic route to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula (approx. 2 hr drive) and Hotel Budir where you spend two nights. Hotel Budir is a beautiful 4 star hotel, stunningly located in full view of the Snaefellsjokull glacier. Meet with the District Commissioner (Daði Jóhannesson or one of his colleagues) to go through paperwork. If this has been provided to Daði well in advance, then you needn’t meet with him allowing the evening at leisure to relax before your 'Big Day'.

Day 3 meet with Priest Ragnheiður Karítas (or one of her colleagues) in the morning to discuss the wedding format. Prepare for your wedding day and take the short walk over to beautiful Budir Church for your wedding ceremony. If you have requested a photographer, photos can be taken 'in the nature' following the ceremony, before returning to Hotel Budir for your wedding breakfast in the stylish restaurant. (All food and drink payable locally, unless pre-arranged).

Day 4 continue the drive around the peninsula to Stykkisholmur for either a morning or afternoon ferry across Breidafjordur Bay (approx. 3 hrs total). The ferry stops very briefly at the quaint little island of Flatey, midway across the bay (an overnight stay is possible here**). Upon arrival at Brjanslaekur continue to Hotel Latrabjarg, within easy reach of the remarkable 14km-long bird cliffs. Early evenings are best to see the thousands of puffins and other seabirds.

Day 6 trace the fjord-indented coastline north to Patreksfjordur, Talknafjordur and Bildudalur and see picturesque fishing villages galore! Stop at the fan-shaped cascading falls of Dynjandi, the perfect place for a picnic. The road winds up and down across the mountains skirting the fjords - a truly incredible driving experience. Your final destination today is the remote town of Isafjordur for two nights at Hotel Isafjordur.

Day 7 day at leisure - perhaps take an excursion (kayaking, biking, hiking and boating are all available - contact us to prebook) and explore in a different way!

Day10 time-permitting, visit Eiriksstadir, Erik the Red’s renovated farm before heading back to Keflavik to drop off your rental vehicle before the flight back to the UK (or contact us to extend your stay in the capital of Reykjavik - additional cost). |
*Previously married couples will need to visit the Ministry of Justice in Reykjavik to obtain approval that your divorce and been dissolved correctly; therefore an additional night in Reykjavik at the start of your itinerary will be necessary.
**If you would like to overnight on Flatey then please contact our team to adjust your itinerary (additional cost for extra night). Flatey has a scattering of photogenic timber structures including the converted warehouses flanking the old market square where Hotel Flatey (our choice of accommodation) is located. The rooms have shared facilities and the hotel’s restaurant offers great food with fine views. Please note that no vehicles are allowed on Flatey, therefore guests staying here allow their vehicle to carry on with the ferry to Brjanslaekur for collection the next day (additional cost).
