ICELAND WEDDINGS
With our years of experience in travel to Iceland, it is not surprising that we’ve been asked to assist many couples with their wedding plans in this unique and captivating country. Iceland is an excellent choice for a unique wedding – the people are warm and friendly, and the settings can be quirky, unique and breathtaking all at the same time.
And whether you choose a tiny wooden chapel, a quaint turf church or a location with a view over the breathtaking Icelandic landscape, our dedicated Weddings Team will take you through every step in planning your special day.
Our weddings are offered on a tailor-made basis to allow for maximum flexibility. We offer two types of service: Religious (with a Priest, held in a church or chapel) and Civil (with a District Commissioner at a wider choice of location, both indoors and out). If you would like to renew your vows or just need somewhere stunning to pop the question, then we can help with that too!
FROM REYKJAVIK
Our most affordable wedding package is adapted from the Reykjavik City Break, which allows you to take advantage of the capital’s varied accommodation whilst having several of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders just a short drive away. The most popular option for guests staying in Reykjavik is to take a day trip out into the Icelandic countryside, with a ceremony held in a small church or in an area of outstanding natural beauty. more »
IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
Alternatively why not stay out in the countryside itself, and have your wedding in the beautiful wooden church in Thingvellir National Park, surrounded by mountains and glaciers, or perhaps the quaint little church at the Skogafoss waterfall with the luxurious Hotel Ranga nearby perfect for a celebratory glass of champagne? Indeed the Ranga has a beautiful church, the Oddi, just ten minutes drive away.
In the west of Iceland, the Snaefellsness Peninsula is home to Hotel Budir and it’s picturesque church, Little Budir. With smoky black timber walls contrasted with white-framed windows and doors, this church is absolutely charming. And in North Iceland, there is a splendid showcase of volcanic and geothermal oddities surrounding the stunning Lake Myvatn. With the immense power of Godafoss and Dettifoss falls nearby, in the heart of the region is the pretty Skutustadir Church. The nearby Lava House is a fully-furnished villa that sleeps up to 12, and has it's own hot tub! more »
Iceland has a wide range of other options available for weddings, and of course you needn’t wed in a church – we can arrange civil ceremonies just about anywhere on the island, as long as the area's District Commissioner is willing to cooperate!
Ideally, you need to book your 'Big Day' a minimum of 3 months in advance to allow time to collate paperwork however, we would recommend allowing more time if travelling in a wedding party of 10 or more.
