We are pleased to announce that from 6th July to 19th July 2006, author Jennifer Niven will be guest speaker, once again on the Russia’s Far East and Wrangel Island voyage. Niven, who until last year had never visited Wrangel Island due to its remoteness, is venturing for the second time to the island known for having the largest concentration of polar bear dens in the world.
As passengers on the 2005 expedition learned, the nonfiction author whose books have been the subject of an hour-long documentary on both the Discovery Channel and Dateline NBC, along with being praised by The New York Times, Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, Minneapolis Star & Tribune and the Boston Globe, is a compelling writer and a master storyteller. As guest speaker on board the Icebreaker Kapitan Klebnikov, she will recount tales of betrayal and survival in the Arctic and the personalities that made these stories so compelling. In addition to the lecture program, the voyage will include helicopter flight-seeing and Zodiac cruises to areas inaccessible by any other means of transport.
Prices for the 16-day voyage start from £5671 per person based on a triple share cabin. Please note a fuel surcharge is applicable on these prices.
