The north of Iceland is one of the most stunning regions in the country. Akureyri, Iceland's second city has a superb location almost at the head of a beautiful fjord, while Lake Myvatn provides extraordinary beauty and a wealth of volcanic and geothermal features.
Focusing on the area between Akureyri and Lake Myvatn the study area also takes in the alpine mountain area known as Trollaskagi. Located to the north of Akureyri, this area still has permanent ice and small glaciers while the area towards Myvatn has some interesting de-glaciation features as well as its stunning, almost moonlike, volcanic landscape.
Our 6-day Volcanic and Glacial Scenery trip starts from £695 per person.
